| Classic Scars of Life lineup hits studio together for the first time since 2003! | | Posted On Thursday, June 21, 2012 by Mike | That's right, for the first time since 2003 when we recorded the Another Tomorrow album; Kyle, Anthony, Jason, Joe, and Mike have entered their own Sorry Dude Studios to begin recording their upcoming single, More Like You. So far, Jason has recorded his drums and Mike has recorded his bass. Later this week, Anthony and Joe will record their guitars, then Kyle will lay down his vocal tracks. After that we'll record any overparts and backing vocals and start the mixing process. This is the first time we have recorded in our own studio, so we are able to pace ourselves and make sure everything is perfect. The song will be released sometime in the near future as we continue talks and preparations for our reunion show. We will keep you updated on that. We have more songs in the works for our upcoming album, but we want to release More Like You as soon as possible since you guys seem to be hungry for some new Scars of Life (thank you for the continued support!)
Also, we should have a new, updated website coming out sometime in the near future. It will contain new band photos, profiles, etc. In the meantime, be sure to like Scars of Life on our official Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/scarsoflife. We are very active on there, so drop us a line and hang out! |
| Its official... Scars of Life is back! | | Posted On Thursday, November 24, 2011 by Jason | The day we thought would never come is finally here. After 6 long years Scars of Life is officially back together and ready to do some damage. Anthony, Joe and Jason have reunited with original singer Kyle Shaprio and bass guitarist Mike Kennedy to reform the band lineup that was active from 1999-2004.
The band has already started working on songs for a new album we hope to have out some time next summer. A reunion show is also in the works for some time after the new year. This is an exciting time for us and we cant wait to get started. More details will come soon so check back shortly.
And to make it even better, we found our live recordings from our 2003 show at the Hard Rock Live in Orlando, FL. We whipped it into a video collage of images from the show for your viewing pleasure on youtube here: http://youtu.be/74CWGsMdnzc |
| The Lost Demos | | Posted On Saturday, June 30, 2007 by Jason | After doing a bit of digging we uncovered some of our old demo recordings that we did when we were trying to pick songs for an album. Three songs were found that never made their way onto an album, but had a decent enough recording to post online. You can download all 3 on audiostreet at:
http://www.audiostreet.net/scarsoflife
Look for them under "The Lost Demos" on the music page. If we happen to come across any more, we will surely post them online. And to confirm a rumor, there is a live recording of our performance at the Hard Rock in orlando that was never completed. Production of that recording was meant to be part of a DVD we were going to release, but we dropped the project in the middle to start work on the "What We Reflect" album. The recording is mostly complete and there are plans to finish it and release it online to download for free. Keep your eyes posted for details about this in the coming months. |
| Burning Red Debut Show July 8th | | Posted On Saturday, June 24, 2006 by Jason | I know you all have waited a VERY long time to see us play out again, and its finally time. After almost two years without playing a show in south florida, the former SOL guys wil be making their south florida debug as Burning Red at Deadstar Assembly's CD Release party on July 8th at The Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale.
DSA and the guys in Burning Red have a long history of playing out together, mainly as Scars of Life, and feel right at home playing with them again in our hometown. I know many of you are curious to see how we have evolved as a live band since reforming under the new name, and we aim not to disappoint you. This will also be the debut for our singer, Footer who has never stepped on stage with us anywhere until now. We could only keep the guy caged up for so long, you know? We plan to see you all there and will have some CDs to give away and possibly some other merch to sell. We hope you all are as excited as we are about this, and look forward to putting on a hell of a show for you all. See you all there on July 8th!

| Introducing "Burning Red" | | Posted On Sunday, April 16, 2006 by Jason | Well, its official. What was once "scars of life" is now known as "Burning Red". It has been a long and interesting transition, and we are happy to finally share it with you. We don't have an official website yet, so we are posting a page for the new band on AudioStreet.Net. Please go there and check out our new sound, we have posted a couple song clips for you to sink your teeth into. Also there are plenty of pictures for you to flip though, so enjoy!
We also would like to introduce you to our new singer, Frankie (Footer) Kalin. Footer hails from New York and was previously part of the band "Driver" on Flawless/Universal records a couple years back. We hope you all like how he sounds, because we sure do. He brings a totally different style to the band, with a warmer and more full sounding vocal style that will feel familiar to many of you. I wont venture to tell you what our style is more like, so you should judge for yourself.
We are planning on finally playing some shows in south florida sometime in May, so keep your eyes peeled for those announcements. We will post those shows here until our new site is up and running. We may even post up some video of our studio experience for your viewing pleasure. Until next time, enjoy and leave us some feedback in our forum.

| In The Studio | | Posted On Saturday, March 25, 2006 by Jason | Well, the time has finally come to get back into the studio and record some new songs! We know it has been forever since we really truly recorded something new, and it feels great to finally be recording something nobody has ever heard before. Tonight was our first night in the studio, and we plan to post daily studio updates in our forum here.
We have taken quite an evolutionary step in our style. Changing singers always changes the identity of a band, so out of respect for what SOL was in the past it was only right to change our name. We do plan to keep this site up as it is permanently, and start an all new site under the new band name. We have all agreed to make a desicion on the name this weekend, so we will be posting it as soon as we come to an agreement.
As far as sound clips from this recording, we plan to have those up by next weekend. We also are taking some promo pics of the whole lineup, so we will be posting some of those in the forums in the next couple days. Stay tuned.. there is alot more to come. |

Well, as you all can see by the above article. Kyle Shapiro will no longer be playing in Scars of Life. He was one of the founding members of this band and put a lot of years into making music with us. His vocals and lyrics helped define the meaning behind Scars of Life and contributed greatly to make us the band we are today. We can't really speak for all of Kyle's reasons for leaving, but what we do know is that Kyle's interest in singing has dwindled slowly over the past couple years and he wants to pursue his personal career goals outside of music. It’s a decision that he made and we appreciate the support everyone has given us. The rest of us love playing music still, and can not see ending the band after all the work we have done. We will audition new vocalists to try to replace him. If we can't find someone suitable for the position then we will spare ourselves and all of you the torture of releasing new music as Scars of Life. Thanks for all your support, and hopefully you'll see more of us soon. -Scars of Life
